Kendrick Perkins Explains Why Kevin Durant Is a Better Scorer Than Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson

The 2-time NBA champion Kevin Durant is one of the greatest guards of the league. The conversations over his skill set have recently sped up after a brilliant Olympic Games performance in Tokyo. More so, many are calling him the greatest scorer of all time, surpassing Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson.

Durant, Brooklyn Nets star player, sat out for an entire season to cope up with injuries. Eventually, this 2020-21 season, Durant unleashed his talented self and averaged 34.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game during the postseason. The Nets were sent home in the Eastern Conference Semifinals by the Milwaukee Bucks, who won the 2021 championship.

Kevin Durant: an efficient guard

The factor that amazes most of the pundits is how KD dominated the game and turns it in his favor. During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he became the all-time leading scorer of Team USA in the Olympics. Durant led his national team to win a gold medal after defeating France in the Finals.

NBA analyst and former basketball player, Kendrick Perkins believes that Durant has crossed the likes of Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson in the scoring area. In a recent conversation on ‘The Jump’, he said – “It’s KD because the efficiency. What guard in the playoffs will shoot like 57 percent.”

Kendrick Perkins hasn’t shied away from stating that KD surpasses the great Michael Jordan in scoring as well. He believes that the Nets’ star holds higher abilities in three-point shooting that gives him an edge over MJ.

Brooklyn Nets and Durant are up for a challenge next season

Kevin Durant has won the scoring title four times in his career so far, tied with Allen Iverson. Whereas, Kobe Bryant is a 2-time NBA scoring champion. Durant has received this award so many times despite playing alongside superstars like Steph Curry. He also became the 2014 NBA MVP and NBA Finals MVP twice in 2017 and 2018.

Brooklyn Nets’ Big 3 hasn’t been able to exhibit massive dominance this season because of several injuries. However, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving must look forward to the next year. While other franchises have also formed star-studded combinations this trading season, the Nets will face similar competition this time around.
