Piers Morgan’s recovery from Covid-19 has taken a strange turn as he has been left seeing ‘ghostly’ figures.
The former Good Morning Britain presenter tested positive for Covid last month after attending England’s Euro 2020 game at Wembley Stadium.
Since then, the fully vaccinated star has experienced loss of taste and smell – in particular his beloved wine – chest pains, fever and cold sweats.
But now, almost a month since he caught the virus, Piers is suffering a new symptom that couldn’t be further from the traditional effects of Covid.
Updating his Twitter followers on Tuesday, the TV star wrote: ‘28-day Covid update: a new treat – aside from ongoing tedious fatigue & inability to taste wine, all the coughing’s caused a ‘posterior vitreous detachment’ in my left eye.
‘So, I’m now seeing weird ghostly cobwebs swimming around. It really is the virus that keeps on giving.’
A posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) is a condition where your vitreous comes away from the retina at the back of your eye. PVD isn’t painful and it doesn’t cause loss of sight, but symptoms can include seeing floaters, or small dark spots or shapes, and flashing lights.
One troll then slithered into Piers’ comments and questioned how ‘deadly’ Covid was.
Delivering a sassy response, the broadcaster hit back: ‘First, my apologies for still being alive. Blame those damn vaccines! Second, Covid’s killed 4.3 million people in 20 months. I’d call that “deadly”.’
It comes after Piers, 56, revealed he had lost weight since falling ill with the virus.
Writing in his recent Daily Mail diary, he revealed: ‘It’s now been three weeks since I went down with Covid, and I still feel as rough as a badger’s backside, with chronic fatigue and a lack of taste/smell.
‘Many friends have also recently had the virus, with varying severity, as the Delta variant spreads like wildfire.’
One of those friends was singer James Blunt and Piers shared the one ‘side effect’ they had in common, which was losing weight during their respective battles.

‘In fact, the only side effect we shared was a positive one: weight loss,’ he added.
‘He’s shed 4kg [8lbs] and I’ve dropped 2kg [4lbs].’
