Love Island contestants are no strangers to coming up with iconic catchphrases and useful dating terminology, from ‘dead ting’ and ‘muggy’ to ‘laying it on factor 50’ and ‘100% my type on paper’.
One of the more popular terms to come out of the 2021 villa is ‘moving mad’, which means to act out of character.
Some viewers have been left confused by the girls’ discussions around NVQs – surely, they can’t be that interested in National Vocational Qualifications?

What does NVQ mean on Love Island?
The use of NVQ is actually a code used to discuss sexual activity.
The girls have taken to using the structure of the educational NVQ qualification as a way to secretly detail the naughty goings on of the villa.

‘Entry Level NVQ 1’ is used to describe kissing – the first step on the educational/sexual ladder.
Each progressively naughty act is then assigned a higher NVQ level.
‘NVQ1’ a refers to any kind of handsy movement, whilst ‘NVQ2’ is code for oral sex.
Liberty said that ‘NVQ 3’ translates to ‘the full shebang’.
Viewers were left wondering after Monday night’s episode whether Liam and Millie reached NVQ1 after spotting some suggestive movements from beneath the couple’s bed covers.
What codes do the Love Island boys use to discuss sex?
While ‘doing bits’ is a phrase that has long existed on Love Island, this year’s cohort went one further by using football terms to describe various intimate moments with partners.
Hashtag United player Toby started the trend after a steamy night in the hideaway with Chloe Burrows.

He told the boys: ‘It started with a 1-0, 1-0 to me. I brought it back, for a possible handball.
‘There were no diving headers, unfortunately. After the 1-0 the game had to be cut short.
‘The weather wasn’t too good, we had streakers on the pitch, we had a flooding of the pitch and the pitch had to be abandoned unfortunately.’

Viewers attempted to translate the football terms and what they might mean, with ‘diving header’ believed by many to mean oral sex.
