Mel Gibson is charging fans up to £1,000 for a picture and a handshake at upcoming exclusive meet and greet events with fans.

The Braveheart star is appearing in London, Glasgow, Birmingham and Leeds later this year in an An Experience With Mel Gibson, a ticketed on-stage interview appearance marketed as a ‘huge production with unseen Gibson video and photos’, but it will cost you a pretty penny if you want to get up close and personal.

The most expensive spots for the black-tie November events, which include a drinks package, three-course dinner with live band and Rat Pack singer throughout, and Mel, 65, discussing his Hollywood career on stage, cost £345.

Fans of the Mad Max star are told: ‘Super premium table location (Best seats in the house!).

‘Drinks reception on arrival in our fabulous VIP area. Table service for the duration of the evening.

‘Welcome drinks package shared with your table, including champagne, wine, beers, soft drinks and iced water.’

However, if fans want to be in with a chance to actually meet Mel then they must pay up to £650 per person for a VIP ‘premium photo’ upgrade experience – in addition to a dinner ticket.

This puts the top price at a cool £1,000, with the £650 photo portion the only way to have your picture from the event signed by Mel.

Event organisers explain: ‘Only 20 available. Queue priority, premium guests will be first in line for the photos.

‘Limited edition GOLD access lanyard. Choice to either… A, get the mount of your photo frame signed in gold pen or B, a signed Mel Gibson movie poster (size A3).

‘All our items come with COA and video of the signing.’

If a grand is outside your price range, the cheapest way to meet the Aussie actor for a photo and coveted handshake during these events is by plumping for the lowest dinner tier, silver, for £99 plus booking fee, and the £300 photo opp, which must be of single guest only, and comes with ‘a stunning high-quality frame’, free digital copy and limited-edition access lanyard. That will set you back £399 in total.

For the savers among us, the London and Birmingham shows offer the chance for fans to simply experience the on-stage interview, sans dinner, for £50 per ticket – plus booking fee.

Mel’s career has been rocked by scandal over the past several years, most recently when Winona Ryder claimed he called her an ‘oven dodger’ at a party when opening up about her experiences of antisemitism.

Despite this, the actor is rumoured to be gearing up to join Danny Glover for Lethal Weapon 5, 22 years after the last film in the series.

The late Richard Donner was lined up to helm the movie, but he died at the age of 91 in July.
