5 new signings who could take Dream Team by storm this season
Dream Team managers love a new signing.
High-profile arrivals are always popular while familiar names levelling up within the league are not far behind.
However, a change of environment can sometimes cause a player to lose the form that earned the move in the first place – just look at Timo Werner (£3.5m).
Here we’ve identified five new signings who we think have the most potential to succeed this season.
Oh, before we start, Romelu Lukaku would be the first name on this list but he hasn’t been officially confirmed yet so we’ve excluded him – it’s only a matter of time.

Jadon Sancho (£4.5m)
Apologies if you’ve heard this stat before but it’s truly remarkable: Sancho is one of only five players (the others being Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Eden Hazard) to register 15+ goals and 15+ assists in a single season (top five European leagues) in the last 15 years.
The best Dream Team midfielders are the ones who rival forwards for goal contributions and Man United’s new plaything did exactly that at Borussia Dortmund.
It’s probably unreasonable to expect Sancho to hit the ground running immediately but his talent is not to be underestimated.
Ibrahima Konate (£3.5m)
Liverpool’s first-choice defenders come at a hefty price but their new centre-back could be a steal at £3.5m if he establishes himself as Virgil van Dijk’s (£5.0m) regular partner.
The 6ft 4in Frenchman has the attributes to thrive at Anfield but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be trusted from off with Joe Gomez (£3.0m) and Joel Matip (£2.5m) returning from injury.

Backing Konate from Game Week 1 could be a mistake as it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 22-year-old start down the pecking order but keep an eye on his progress as the season goes on.
Jack Grealish (£4.5m)
Unlike Sancho and Konate, Premier League fans are ultra familiar with English football’s first £100million man.
Man City players have produced more Dream Team points than any other club in recent seasons so it’s logical to expect a spike in Grealish’s returns.
The 25-year-old was the main man at Villa Park but will have to adapt to Pep Guardiola’s system-based approach if he’s gel with his new team-mates.
However, Grealish’s underlying stats relating to playmaking (chances created, expected assists, etc) are among the best in the league so he could easily average an assist every other Game Week at Etihad, with plenty of Star Man awards to boot.
If things go well Grealish could be a Player of the Year candidategetty
Danny Ings (£3.5m)
Emi Buendia (£3.0m) will be tasked with filling Grealish’s creative quota but it’s Aston Villa’s new striker who could benefit most from his switch to the Midlands.
It’s easy to forget that Ings scored 25 goals in all competitions the season before last for a team that finished in the bottom half.
The former Southampton forward has battled with injuries throughout his career but has proven to be a Premier League quality goalscorer when fully fit.
If Villa play the same football they did for most of last season then Ings should get plenty of chances – he’s also a great option for the first month with games against Watford, Newcastle and Brentford.
Ben White (£3.0m)

Only Man City and Chelsea conceded fewer goals than Arsenal last season so any new addition to the Gunners defence automatically appeals.
The England international is a typically modern centre-back in that his comfort in possession is arguably his strongest attribute – expect him to contribute to the build-up with his brave dribbling and ambitious passing.
As with Konate and Liverpool, White’s place in the pecking order at Arsenal isn’t crystal clear just yet but you’d think a £50million arrival would slot straight into the first team.
