I worked at Primark & it what I saw haunts me to this day

A FORMER Primark employee has revealed the encounter with a customer while working at the shop that still haunts her to this day.

In a viral video on TikTok, the woman – who was 17 when she worked at the store on weekends – shared how she was “verbally assaulted over shapewear”.

The ex-employee explained that a colleague had come over to her saying that a female customer had specifically requested to speak to the person who looks after the underwear section.

Thinking that the woman just wanted help with finding a particular size, she went over and asked how she could help.

However, it turned out that the customer – who she said already had a huge attitude – was furious at being unable to find particular shapewear that she was wrongly convinced Primark stocked.

The employee recalled how she politely told her that they’d never had such an item in stock, and she was probably thinking of a different store.

The woman recalled: “It was like I had just offended her whole family.

“She started shouting at the top of her voice on the shop floor at me saying that it was in stock the other day when she came in.”

Then, even when the employee offered to go and check in the back, or call up another store, the customer’s mood worsened.

She continued: “She started screaming at me saying I couldn’t do my job and it was all my fault.

“And then she started telling me how I didn’t deserve my job at Primark.”

She added: “I couldn’t get a word in, and I started crying because I was 17 and I was emotional…she was shouting at me and telling me how worthless I was.”

By this point, all the fellow staff and customers had stopped what they were doing to look over – and she added that people later came over to check she was ok.

TikTok users rushed to offer up their disbelief at how appallingly the customer had treated her.

One said: “I’m sorry that she made you cry.”

Another commented: “Omg so sorry you had that happen.”

A third shared: “Can’t we normalise throwing people out of the shop when they abuse staff?”
