Matthew MacNabb confessed he had eyes for Millie Court after he was dumped from the villa in a shock recoupling on Wednesday night.

The Irishman, 26, was given the boot after the latest female bombshell Priya Gopaldas, 23, decided to pair up with Brett Staniland, 27, who joined the show during Tuesday evening’s episode.

During his exit interview, Matthew admitted that, while he enjoyed spending time with Kaz Kamwi, 26, before dumping her last week, he had always been attracted to Millie, 24.

He said: ‘I felt like it was pretty much Kaz from the start. I did like Millie if I’m honest but I didn’t want to get involved in that situation and I’m happy I didn’t because we’re good friends and I love [her partner] Liam.’

Matthew went on to say he believes Millie and her man Liam Reardon, 21, could go the full distance and win the show, but they have stiff competition from Jake Cornish, 24, and Liberty Poole, 21.

He explained: ‘I think Jake and Lib, Millie and Liam have the strongest connection. You see in the Villa first hand just how close both of those couples are.’

While he didn’t make it to the final, which is set to air on August 23, Matthew is pleased with his time in the villa, insisting he did the best he could.

He said: ‘Ultimately, the outstanding emotion I get is that I’m proud. I feel proud of the journey I went on and I stayed true to myself. I met some amazing people there that I’ll be friends with for life. I feel very positive about the whole situation, I’m happy.’

‘I’m a no regrets type of guy. You learn from what you go through and I’m very proud of myself and how I’ve acted and how I’ve treated people. I think the course of action I took led me to where I am now and I’m happy with where I am,’ he added.

On whether he would recommend his friends audition for Love Island, he concluded: ‘Absolutely – I’ve loved every second of it. It’s been an amazing journey and I’ve learnt a lot about myself. I really appreciate everyone at ITV and Love Island for having me on the show.’

Love Island continues on ITV2 tomorrow at 9pm.
