Nightbirde made a surprise return on America’s Got Talent with a special appearance following the singer’s withdrawal from the competition due to her cancer diagnosis.
In June this year, Nightbirde, whose real name is Jane Marczewski, stunned the AGT judges and viewers across the globe with her moving rendition of her original song It’s Okay, earning a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell and millions of views online.
Earlier this month, the musician, who previously said that she has a 2% chance of survival, announced that she had to pull out of the series, informing her fans on Instagram that since her audition, ‘my health has taken a turn for the worse and the fight with cancer is demanding all of my energy and attention’.
After sharing her ‘devastation’ over having to leave the show, during the latest episode the 30-year-old dropped in via video chat to speak to the judges, presenter Terry Crews and to share a message of hope with viewers.
Judge Howie Mandel described Nightbirde as ‘the poster human for courage in the face of adversity, for poise, for beauty and for fight’, adding: ‘And that’s what we all need to do.’
Simon mentioned that he and Nightbirde had spoken on a few occasions, telling her: ‘You made the decision, rightly so, that your health is your priority right now and I know that the last time we spoke you actually said you feel like you let people down. Well, I just want to say on behalf of all of us, you haven’t let anyone down.’

The media mogul added that even though Nightbirde is no longer competing in the series, in his eyes, she has ‘already won’.
Praising the impact that the singer has had on the millions of people who have watched her first audition, he said: ‘The most important thing is your wellbeing and your health and your recovery and on behalf of all of us here, we’re sending you our love, our prayers, and we can’t wait to see you again soon.’
As Simon thanked Nightbirde for auditioning for AGT and singing her original song in the first place, he appeared to become choked up, as Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum went on to share their love for the musician.
Nightbirde expressed her gratitude over being able to share her story on the show, saying that she believes ‘we’re witnessing such a beautiful picture of the human spirit and the triumph of the human spirit’.

The musician said that her experience has ‘restored my faith in humanity’, having been able to witness people ‘coming together over the fact that we all hurt, we all suffer and we all have the potential to overcome’.
‘This is the most beautiful thing that’s ever happened to me in my life,’ Nightbirde added.
America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays on NBC in the US, while it is available to stream on Netflix in the UK.
