Tom Daley’s knitting was one of the most talked about things of the Tokyo Olympics this year after he was spotted making his own clothes at the event.

The diver, 27, is now back in the UK after winning his first gold medal at the olympics.

He was spotted in London this week wearing one of his colourful creations as he entered his property.

The jumper featured wavy stripes and finished at his waist while the over-sized flared arms were much longer.

The sportsman was seen sitting in the stands with his knitting needles at the games and he made a cosy Team GB jumper as a keepsake, sharing snaps of himself wearing it on his Made With Love by Tom Daley Instagram page.

He wrote: ‘When I got to Tokyo, I wanted to make something that would remind me of the Olympics to look back on in the future. I designed a pattern for the colour work that would signify everything about these games!

‘On the back I went for a classic @teamgb logo, the shoulders have a flag and GBR on them. For the front I wanted to keep it simple and I tried my best to embroider TOKYO in Japanese!’

Tom used the attention on the post to fundraise for the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of his father Rob, who died in 2011 following a cancer battle at the age of 40.

Tom impressed sports fans by knitting his cardigan and a dog jumped while sat by the side of the pool, even getting a bag of yarn delivered to his seat.

The athlete picked up knitting and crocheting over lockdown and has become pretty much a pro at the craft.

The star, who has a three-year-old son Robbie with husband Dustin Lance Black, has been sharing his knitted and crocheted creations to Instagram since last September.

Among his work is cardigans for his husband, hats for little Robbie, crocheted vests and jumpers to wear himself, and chunky throws to decorate his house.
