WATCH: Williams F1 Teammates George Russell & Nicholas Latifi Spend the Summer Vacation Together in Mykonos
A lot may have questioned Williams’ motive behind signing a pay driver in Nicholas Latifi, back in 2020. And it looked like the Canadian might struggle evidently against his teammate, George Russell, who is an F2 world champion.
Of course, initially, their relationship was quite stale to the public’s eye, considering the duo hardly spent time with each other off the track. But, the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix might have just glued the two Williams drivers together.
Just a week after the dream Hungary outing for Williams, Latifi posted a picture on social media, and quite surprisingly, it starred his own teammate, Russell.
George Russell and Nicholas Latifi spending the vacation together?
With F1 going into the summer break, a lot of drivers have been going on vacations. Similar to Charles Leclerc, Russell and Latifi apparently opted to fly to Mykonos, a very attractive island in Greece to enjoy the summer.
During the vacation, Latifi tweeted a picture of himself hanging around with Russell. He also wrote a caption, hinting that he had been spending time with Russell since the race weekend at Hungaroring.

“We just couldn’t get away from each other!” the Canadian wrote.
This is definitely a much deserving outing for both the Williams drivers, who recently ended the team’s long endured drought. After over 2 years, Russell and Latifi, together, managed to secure the first double points finish for Williams since the 2018 Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
Russell’s gesture that may have bolstered his relationship with Latifi
A lot may have been quite aware of this gesture that took place at Hungaroring during the race this year. By the end of lap 4, Williams had both their drivers comfortably in the top 10, with Latifi in an impressive P3.
However, Williams’ pace deficit might not have helped Latifi do wonders from the podium position, as an undercut from others behind would leave the Canadian lingering in the bottom of the top 10.

Hence, to revoke the undercut, Russell, from P7, was ready to give up his point-scoring hopes by sabotaging his own race for his teammate’s benefit.
And this sweet gesture from Russell may have brought the two Williams drivers closer. So, with over a whole of the second half left to go, are we in for more such bromances between Russell and Latifi? Well, let’s hope so.
