Wizkid’s summer banger Essence could be given a makeover with Justin Bieber’s name on it after teasing a collaboration with the popstar.
The Afrobeats superstar is still riding the wave of success after the release of his masterpiece, Made In Lagos, and the album’s standout track Essence featuring Tems.
Now, days after finally releasing tickets for his upcoming London show, Wizkid has dropped even more exciting news.
In a now-deleted Instagram story, the Brown Skin Girl singer shared a photo of a garden with the caption: ‘Dat @justinbieber vocals. Love u my G!’
Adding fuel to the flame, he tweeted around the same time: ‘Got something special for you guys tomorrow.’
Almost immediately, speculation mounted that the collaboration would be an Essence remix, with Twitter account Rap Alert claiming: ‘Wizkid is releasing the “Essence” remix featuring Justin Bieber tomorrow.’
The rumours received a mixed response with one excited fan tweeting: ‘The remix is going to slap tho! I mean Justin Bieber x Wizkid??? Dfkm man. Let’s have it!!!!’
Another admitted: ‘I’m pumped for this Wizkid x Justin Bieber’s joint like wft.’
However, one fan wasn’t feeling the possibility of Justin hopping on the smoothest song of the summer, and weighed in: ‘Nah I’m canceling Wizkid if he actually puts out an Essence remix with Justin Bieber.’
Another agreed: ‘Honestly I don’t want any remix of Essence but whatever Wiz wants.’
Made In Lagos has become Wizkid’s most commercially successful albums yet, with collaborations including H.E.R., Burna Boy, Skepta and Damian Marley, while it reached number 15 on the UK charts.
Last Friday, the 31-year-old Nigerian singer finally released tickets for his tour show at London’s O2 Arena in November, and made history after selling out in just 12 minutes.
Wizkid is now only the sixth artist ever to sell-out an O2 Arena show in under 15 minutes, joining an exclusive group including the Spice Girls, Beyonce, Rihanna and The Rolling Stones.
So far, he’s only announced one show on November 28 but hinted last week that more dates are on the way for his UK fans.

As for Justin, he appears keen to explore the Afrobeats genre – which combines elements of West African music – following his performance at the Freedom Experience event in Los Angeles this week.
The 27-year-old’s song, Freedom, drew comparisons to the Afrobeats sound earning a mixed response from music fans.
