Furys Continue to Insult Deontay Wilder: “He’s a Piece of Rubbish”

Despite his aura as a knockout artist, Deontay Wilder hasn’t done enough to earn respect from his bitter rival Tyson Fury and his team. Following two in-ring encounters, Wilder is 0-1 behind the Brit, which makes Tyson Fury the only man to have beaten him in pro boxing.

However, Tyson Fury’s father, John Fury, seems aware of the dangers that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ can bring. Hence, while the veteran trainer hailed and praised Deontay Wilder’s boxing abilities, he didn’t credit him enough as a person.

In a chat with BT Sport, John Fury said, “Deontay Wilder’s still the most dangerous heavyweight out there. You’ve gotta give him respect. I hate him as a man. He’s not a man in fact, he’s a piece of rubbish, but that piece of rubbish can fight. So we’ve gotta get it right.”

For a brief period, Wilder was touted as the absolute best heavyweight of the era. However, Tyson Fury exposed several loopholes in the American star’s game when they fought back in 2018. Despite the fight ending in a draw, several people acknowledged Fury’s credentials.

In the next fight against Deontay Wilder, Fury capitalized on the loopholes he discovered and handed ‘The Bronze Bomber’ his maiden loss. Subsequently, Wilder went silent and vanished.

However, the trilogy bout can resurrect him on the ride and bring him back his lost WBC world heavyweight title. As Wilder has claimed that he will win the fight under any circumstances, boxing fans can envision a major upset on the cards.

After losing the rematch in 2020, Wilder has enforced some prominent changes in his camp. He has parted ways with Mark Breland and is now training with his former opponent, Malik Scott. Although several people still doubt his chances against Fury, a look back to the first fight can change a lot of opinions.

Deontay Wilder cracked Tyson Fury in 2018 and floored him with a thunderous punch in the final round. No one expected Fury to rise back from that point, but ‘The Gypsy King’ pulled it off in style.

Building on that, Wilder can outline a plan on how to connect his shot and ensure that his rival doesn’t get back to his feet. Fury, too, will be aware of this. Hence, he won’t take his opponent lightly, as even in the trash talk, his father praised the pugilist in Wilder.
