“Let’s Go Basel”: Roger Federer Takes a Break From Tennis and Enjoys Home Team’s Game

After the Wimbledon Championships disappointment, Roger Federer has taken a break from tennis and withdrawn from Toronto and Cincinnati events ahead of the US Open 2021. Meanwhile, he enjoyed his home soccer team FC Basel 1893’s UEFA Europa Conference match against Hungarian Ujpest Football Club.

Most significantly, the Swiss soccer club registered a 6-1 aggregate win in the third round qualifying match, winning it 4-0 at home. What made the victory even more special was the tennis maestro cheering in the crowd.

Indeed, it is fortunate for the soccer fans as the two living tennis legends have been endorsing the sport. Moreover, it is good to see them supporting their local clubs.

Unquestionably, the Basel-born would want to close his 2021 season with a stellar performance in New York. It would be interesting to see if he puts in the extra gear to become the first male player to reach 21 Grand Slam titles.

All in all, it was a fresh experience to see Federer in crowds supporting his team. Likewise, fans would hope to cheer for him soon on tennis courts.
