Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish were left on the rocks after a challenge pegged them to be the first couple to split once they leave the Love Island villa.

Tensions rose between the couple, who have been together since the start of the show, with Liberty getting concerned that things were not exactly as she had believed between her and Jake.

Problems began during a challenge where the islanders had to rank the top three couples for each statement as voted for by the public.

Liberty was left visibly shaken as she and Jake were voted top for the most one-sided couple.

The bad news didn’t end there for Jiberty, as the couple were also voted the most likely to be the first to split outside of the villa.

The results cast doubt in Liberty’s mind as she told the other girls later: ‘This is a test for me to not let people’s opinion’s affect me,’ adding: ‘Am I missing something?’

She later revealed that she would be pulling Jake for a chat after she repeatedly had told him that she loved him in recent weeks, while he has yet to say it back to her.

Liberty also recalled that Jake had said he didn’t want to rip her clothes off when they first got into the villa.

Speaking on the balcony, she asked Jake: ‘I haven’t really spoken to you today. What’s going on?’

He replied: ’You tell me what’s going on,’ to which she responded: ‘I do feel like since the whole rip the clothes off comment, I’ve been noticing a lot of similar things that have accumulated. We haven’t been spending a lot of time together recently.’

Jake replied: ‘ don’t know what more I can say. You are my girlfriend. You are part of me. I’m at my happiest when I’m with you.

‘Me and you together are very well suited and we are made for each other. That’s how I see things.’

Jake did eventually tell Liberty that he loved her back, quelling the tension between them temporarily, while in a preview for Sunday’s show, the rest of the girls could be seen voicing their doubts about the relationship, claiming Jake was telling Liberty ‘what she wanted to hear’.

Love Island continues on Sunday from 9pm on ITV2.
