Nick Grimshaw’s last day on BBC Radio 1 was a rollercoaster of emotions – including hysterical laughter after he fell flat on his bum.

The presenter, 36, left Radio 1 on Thursday after 14 years, leaving fans emotional with his heartfelt message on his final link

However, it wasn’t a melancholy evening for Nick and his pals, as they managed to capture a side-splitting moment on camera later in the evening.

The group ended up in what appeared to be a loading bay at one point in their night out, where Nick tried to take a set on a folding chair.

What he didn’t realise at the time was that the chair had clearly been discarded for a reason, as the second he sat down on it, the legs gave way, sending him crashing to the ground.

Nick’s mates could be heard screaming with laughter as he ended up stacking it onto his bum, landing with both legs in the air.

The other pal in the frame tried to help him style it out by raising his own leg behind him in an arabesque as Nick exclaimed: ‘Oh my God!’, while clambering to his feet.

He could be seen putting a hand to his back but didn’t appear to have done too much damage, as Nick posted the clip to his own Instagram account, adding: ‘about last night…..’

Nick is yet to reveal what he is doing next, hinting that he was looking to explore more TV work as well as further radio gigs.

Throughout his final show, Nick also received messages from celebrity pals, including Harry Styles who told him: ‘Hi Grimmy, it’s Harry. I can not believe it’s your last week on Radio 1.

‘My favourite time being on Radio 1 with you was probably forming the Straight Through Crew and going straight in from the Brits.

‘But also, every time that could have been so scary for me playing new music, it was always so nice for me to have a friend there and it always felt so safe.

‘Thank you for being my favourite show on radio, thank you for being a friend and I miss you and I can’t wait to see you soon. Good luck with everything, I love you. Byeeee!’
