PFL Star Claressa Shields Takes on Abigail Montes in Her Second Professional MMA Bout on October 27

Claressa Shields is one of the very few boxers to have switched over to MMA. Combat fans are used to seeing MMA fighters switch over and enter the boxing ring as it is just one aspect of MMA and is easier to transition to. However, getting into MMA requires the learning of different forms of martial arts which is a particularly tough assignment.

Which is why Shields’ willingness to get in the octagon and test herself has been very well received by the MMA community. In a recent interview on Sports Center, Shields shared the details of her next fight and when it will take place. She said, “I fight again October 27th back in the cage….. I am always in training, I am always working. Just focusing on learning everything and becoming a better MMA fighter. Back to the Jiu-Jitsu, back to the wrestling, back to the ground and pound. It is just so much work that I have to put in.”

Claressa Shields will be aiming to extend her professional record to 2-0

When ‘T-Rex’ first announced that she would be competing in MMA, not many people expected her to make her debut as fast as she did. Shields made her debut earlier this year when she secured a come from behind stoppage win over Brittney Elkin in round three. After the win, Shields stated that she would fight a few more times before the year ends and has stuck to her word.

Shields will be a part of PFL’s biggest event of the year at the Season Finale, which will crown six divisional champions with six $1 million checks on the line as well. ‘T-Rex’ will be taking on Abigail Montes. ‘Brave’ will be making her debut with the promotion having just started out as a professional mixed martial artist. Montes has a record of 2-0 and will be aiming to extend that with a win over one of the biggest names in combat sports. The fight will be another opportunity for Shields to display her growth as a martial artist and further legitimize her claim as the ‘GWOAT’.
