Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev, and other players their learnings

In a video posted by the tournament’s Twitter handle, some of the top players in men’s tennis revealed what the seemingly never-ending pandemic has taught them. The players did not have an easy time listing only one thing; however, they did manage to answer the questions with diplomacy.

Stefanos Tsitsipas mentioned a very important saying, “Patience builds purpose.”

Talk about politics or whatever before, saying that we don’t feel free, our parents can control us. But actually in the pandemic, that’s where we felt like we, sometimes during lockdown or whatever, that’s when you don’t have a choice. That’s what I appreciate much more now when I have it,” said Daniil Medvedev, when asked about his learning.

Living legend Rafael Nadal sees it as “a lesson of humility. You are facing a pandemic like this one, doesn’t matter if you are from a rich country or not, be happy when the things are in the proper way.”

Now when the phone rings, you try to pick up as fast as you can. Yeah you know, just be close to your loved ones,” said Gael Monfils.

National Bank Open – Men’s Singles Semifinals

After a week of brilliant tennis, four players have made it to the semifinals in Toronto – Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Reilly Opelka, and John Isner. Medvedev will be taking on Isner, whereas Tsitsipas and Opelka go head to head.

The Russian became the main man in focus after Rafael Nadal withdrew from the tournament without playing a single match. The number one seed will be aiming for redemption in the North American circuit to better his Olympic performance. His quest for the US Open later this month begins from Toronto itself.
