Kanye West’s Donda album gets an updated description in small crumb of hope for fans

The Kanye West Donda album saga continues to roll on with still no confirmed release date – but fans have been offered a small glimmer of progress from Apple Music.

As spotted by an eagle-eyed fan and shared on Twitter, the platform updated the description for Kanye’s long-gestating album, which now reads: ‘Yeezy’s 10th solo album features a wealth of some of the MC’s favourite voices.’

Okay, so while not exactly packed with firm detail, the update itself does at least hint at some sort of progress.

Donda was originally supposed to drop on July 23, before that got pushed to August 6.

When that date came and went, the only clues around were iTunes’ listing of the album with an August 15 release, and Apple Music’s, which pegged it as August 15, but is now apparently a placeholder of August 22.

Assuming a last-minute chaotic release isn’t on the cards (which it very much could be), it seems unlikely the release will go ahead on Sunday, leaving the Grammy-winner’s fans holding on to any crumbs of clues they can find – and likely too jaded to assume August 22 is anything concrete.

The 44-year-old has been agonisingly close to release on multiple occasions recently, even moving into the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia to complete his work on the record.

He’s even thrown two listening parties for fans, friends and family at the stadium – but still no dice.

The All Of The Lights star has named the album after his late mother, Donda West, who died from complications after cosmetic surgery in 2007 at the age of 58.

Expected among the ‘favourite voices’ on the album, thought to feature 24 tracks, are Jay Z, Pusha T, Playboi Carti and Travis Scott.

It’s also said to feature lyrics about his split from wife Kim Kardashian, who has supported the album release by attending the listening events with their four children: North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and two-year-old Psalm.
