Ex-Red Bull F1 Driver Explains Where Vettel Makes Up the Deficit to Leclerc, Norris or Verstappen

Sebastian Vettel had a rollercoaster of a ride with his new team, Aston Martin, this season. The four-time world champion had a troublesome start but was quick to find his feet in the new car after securing P2 at Baku. But the German’s excellent form went away as quickly as it came.

Before the F1 enters the summer breaks, Vettel secured his second podium at the Hungarian GP. Unfortunately, the German was disqualified after failing to ensure a minimum of 1 liter in his car.

Meanwhile, former Formula 1 driver, Christian Klien believes there’s a lot to come from Sebastian Vettel this season. In addition, Klien considers the German may not have the one-lap pace of Leclerc, Norris, or Verstappen, but Vettel has cleverness and vast experience under his belt which will eventually help him in the second half of the season.

As quoted by Speedweek.com, when asked about Sebastian Vettel’s first-half performance with his new team, Christian Klien replied: “It was an up and down for him. But if there was something to get, then he did it. If he sees that something is going, then he delivers again.”

Sebastian Vettel is enjoying racing again: Otmar Szafnauer

It was quite evident that the four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel, had not had the best of times in F1 during the last two years with Ferrari. The German left the Maranello-based team to join the new/rebranded Aston Martin this season. Meanwhile, Aston Martin team principal Otmar Szafnauer believes Vettel is enjoying racing again.

As quoted by GPFans, when asked if Sebastian Vettel is finding his feet after a tough start to the year, Otmar Szafnauer replied: “Yeah, he’s more comfortable on the team. He’s more comfortable in himself.”

“At the beginning, before Seb came here, he said, ‘Look, the reason I want to come is I want to enjoy racing again.’ That was his reason for coming. If you ask him, which I often do, he’s at a point now where he enjoys racing again.”

“Anyway, he feels really, really comfortable. He’s enjoying racing again, which is good. That’s exactly what he wanted,” added Szafnauer.
