Barack Obama’s 60th birthday party was the place to be earlier this month but for Larry David, getting disinvited from the star-studded bash had him shouting out with joy.

The 74-year-old comedian was meant set to be one of the many guests coming together to help the former U.S. president celebrate his milestone age.

However, Obama was forced to cut the guest list from 700 to 200 due to the surge of the Delta variant amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

News of the downsize was music to the Curb Your Enthusiasm star’s ears as he’d been worried about potentially being expected to put on a show at the event.

Speaking to The New York Times, David revealed how he got nervous when a call came from Obama’s assistant ahead of the event after assuming he was being asked to perform.

Stating that it caused him to panic at the thought of having to come up with a stand-up routine in just three days, he told the outlet: ‘I was pretty glum when I finally called back his assistant.’

David continued: ‘When he told me I was eighty-sixed from the party, I was so relieved, I screamed, “Thank you! Thank you!” He must have thought I was insane.”

‘Then I hung up the phone, poured myself a drink and finished my crossword puzzle.’

David isn’t the only star to open up about getting booted from the guest list as late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert joked about the moment last week.

discovered he was one of the guest list casualties after he and wife Evelyn had already booked their flights to Obama’s 29-acre Martha’s Vineyard estate.

However, the couple still traveled to Martha’s Vineyard to make use of their booked flights.

Understandably, Colbert holds no ill will towards Barack or his wife Michelle. In fact, he hopes the pair will attend his own 60th when he reaches the milestone age.
