RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6’s Kameron Michaels ‘hurt and disgusted’ by Boom Clap lip sync drama

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Kameron Michaels is ‘hurt, disgusted and devastated’ by her return to All Star 6 as a lip sync assassin.

The queen lip-synced five times in season 10 – including surviving three lip syncs for your life in a row – to make it to the final, so she’s pretty deserving of the ‘lip sync assassin’ title.

But it seems the 35-year-old was left feeling short-changed by her return as such to All Stars, after she was given a decidedly downbeat song to perform to.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Kameron said she felt ‘cheated’ by her return, where she had to lip sync to Charli XCX’s Boom Clap against Ra’jah O’Hara.

She wrote: ‘The longer I try to act like it never happened, the longer it’s going to take me to get over it.’

Explaining she was only sharing images of her regal look she wore for the show to credit the photographer and the designer, Kameron fumed: ‘I am hurt, disgusted and devastated by the entire situation. Call me dramatic, I don’t give a f***.

‘Every girl looks forward to coming back and having their moment to shine. I feel cheated. And worst of all, I said yes and agreed to do it… which is something I have to deal with now and will take me a very long time to get over. If I could go back in time I never would have stepped on that stage. I know my worth and my talent and I feel like I was used for some quick cheap storyline.’

Fans believe Kameron was referencing her eliminating her close friend and season 10 sister Eureka, after unveiling the group’s chosen lipstick.

She continued: ‘Some queens are comedians, some are models, and some are performers. I am a performer through and through. So to have the one thing I’m actually good at be tainted like this hurts my heart so much.

‘So again, I’ll be sharing the look strictly for those involved in the photoshoot… if it were up to me, they would never see the light of day. Which is upsetting that these images feel tainted to me now, because I felt so beautiful.’

Kameron explained she would be turning off comments until she is ‘back in good spirits’ , adding: ‘F*** that stupid song.’

While some fans were on Kameron’s side, others were confused, with one tweet reading: ‘Why is Kameron acting like Rupaul killed her firstborn child when she just made her lipsync to Boom Clap… and gave her the win.’

However, the vast majority of Drag Race fans were in agreement that Boom Clap, while a bop, didn’t suit a jaw-dropping lip sync.

This has probably been said by a million other people already but…you had Kameron Michaels and Ra’Jah O’Hara and you chose Boom Clap for the lip sync song? Of all Charli XCX songs you could’ve used? #AllStars6 pic.twitter.com/OfpQZIjHmP

Songs that should not be a lip sync on @RuPaulsDragRace. No scrubs and boom clap. Destined for low energy.

Although she won over Ra’jah, who had won that week’s main challenge, Kameron was unable to do the tricks and splits she became known for on her season to the mid-tempo song.

Even guest judge Charli XCX looked a bit sedate when the track came on, with fans suggesting that Vroom Vroom would have been a better choice.

The low energy lip sync left Ra’jah defending herself against accusations she lost on purpose to avoid eliminating one of the bottom queens, tweeting: ‘No I didn’t “throw” that lip sync, some songs we just don’t vibe with (no shade) and tbh I didn’t expect to win the challenge (self doubt) so I wasn’t fully prepared! Goes to show that you should never count yourself out and STAY READY!! (*Noted) #DragRace #AllStars6.’

Ra’jah, Kylie Sonique Love, Trinity K Bonet and Ginger Minj have made the top four, but a twist is coming, at long last.

RuPaul has been telling the eliminated queens each week to stick around for a ‘game within a game’, and last week, we found out it involves some form of lip sync extravaganza.

It’s unclear if this will be similar to the LaLaPaRUza lip sync smackdown of All Stars 4, where eliminated queens could send home a competitor, or if a whole other All Stars has been happening off camera.

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 is available to stream on Netflix, with new episodes dropping on Thursdays.
