Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton admits he won’t rule out return to series: ‘Never say never’

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Kevin Clifton has admitted that a return to the series could be on the cards in future, as he refrains from ruling out a comeback.

In 2013, Kevin, 38, became a professional dancer on Strictly, competing on his first show with Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid and finishing in second place.

After finishing in second place for four years in a row followed by seventh place, three years ago Kevin won Strictly with his celebrity partner Stacey Dooley, who he’s been in a relationship with since 2019.

In March 2020, it was announced that Kevin was leaving Strictly after seven years, with the performer saying that he wished to ‘leave on a high’.

Nonetheless, during an appearance on Loose Women, Kevin made it clear that he hadn’t closed the door on Strictly completely.

‘I love Strictly Come Dancing and it’s been a massive part of my life, I did it for seven years and I still love it,’ he said on the ITV programme.

‘And there’s still a part of me that sort of says ‘never say never’ about going back to it, maybe even a different role, who knows. But for now everything’s theatre for me.’

Kevin added that he would ‘happily’ become a judge on Strictly if the opportunity arose.

When Loose Women panelist Gloria Hunniford joked that he could take judge Anton Du Beke’s place on the judging panel in the future, Kevin replied: ‘If he wants to move aside or if any of the others want to move aside at any point, I will happily be a judge on Strictly Come Dancing.’

After watching a clip of himself and Stacey dancing on Strictly, the dancer said that it gave him ‘goosebumps’, as the ‘lovely memory’ was ‘really nice to watch back’.

The 2021 line-up for Strictly was recently announced, with stars including Tom Fletcher, Judi Love, Dan Walker and Nina Wadia leading the cast.

It’s been reported that Strictly bosses are considering pairing up Katie McGlynn and Giovanni Pernice for the upcoming series, with a source implying that they would have great chemistry on the dancefloor.

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year on BBC One.
