The Wiggles star Anthony Field was forced to deny his own death on Monday after it stated on Wikipedia he had died.

The Australian children’s performer, 58, posted a screen shot of the entry of the online encyclopedia, which claimed he died on Sunday August 15 2020.

He wrote: ‘Wikipedia had me dead yesterday!!!

‘Unless I’m not up with the times, I’m still here!!’

The Wiki post read: ‘Anthony Donald Joseph Field, (8 May 1963 – August 15, 2021) was an Australian musician, actor, songwriter and producer.

‘He was best known as a leader of the children’s group the Wiggles and a member of the 1980s and 1990s pop band the Cockroaches.’

The news that Anthony is still alive comes after The Wiggles signed a deal with music group Loop Media for their shows and music to be streamed on an advertisement free channel in the US.

They previously streamed on Netflix in America and YouTube and also have programmes on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.

Anthony hit the headlines in October last year when he apologised for the groups ‘culturally insensitive’ Pappadum song after it went viral again.

The track was featured in a 2014 episode of Ready, Steady, Wiggle! and resurfaced on Twitter when someone complained about the tune.

The video features the Wiggles dancing in traditional Indian outfits holding pappadums.

Anthony posted in response: ‘I wrote the sing, and directed the clip in 2014 (which was meant as a celebration). It was not my intention to be culturally insensitive to the Indian community, or to add value to ethnic stereotyping.’
