Wasting not one minute in getting back to the UK, Foo Fighters have announced a bunch of stadium dates for next year.

Set to wake us from our pandemic slumber with some ‘long ass nights of rock and roll’, the group, led by Dave Grohl, has locked in four dates, beginning in Manchester on June 25, 2022.

The group, who released their album Medicine At Midnight earlier this year – which, of course, shot to number one – are currently touring the US, following the announcement of their disco album under the moniker the Dee Gees. Well-versed in this pandemic concert palaver, the band made a historic return to the stage at Madison Square Garden, in New York’s first full capacity show in more than a year.

Since then they’ve performed a series of sold-out headline dates and closed this year’s Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.

Yes, while you’ve been baking banana bread and doing endless puzzles this band – which also counts Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, and Rami Jaffee as members – has been hard at work churning out the tunes.

These UK dates will mark the band’s first shows in the UK since their headline slot at Reading & Leeds Festival in summer 2019.

Addressing the tour, Dave said: ‘We can’t f*cking wait to get back to the UK.

‘It’s been far too long. Get ready to make up for lost time with some long ass nights of rock & roll.’

Kicking off at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, the run includes a date at Birmingham’s Villa Park on June 27, and a return to London Stadium for two huge dates on June 30 and July 2. Support for the shows will come from St Vincent, Courtney Barnett, Shame, Hot Milk and Loose Articles.

The band had planned to go on tour with the release of Medicine At Midnight, which would have coincided with the 25th anniversary of their first show.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk at the time, drummer Taylor said when it does become ‘safe and possible’ they’ll be back out there on the road. Turns out they weren’t lying.

‘It means everything to me and I know it does to a lot of people out there,’ he said at the time of the halting of live music. ‘If I was 17 or 18 years old right now I’d be losing my sh*t because I can’t go to a concert.’

Tickets for Foo Fighters’ UK tour go on sale Friday, August 20, at 9am BST, and, well, if the Foo’s previous tours have told us anything it’s that they’ll be snapped up before you’ve even reached the chorus of Everlong.
