Major Update on Pascal Siakam To Warriors Trade

The NBA free agency so far has seen a host teams making a plethora of moves to become competitive. But one team had still somehow managed to stay out of the microscope this year are the Golden State Warriors.

The Dubs who brought in a couple of exciting rookies in Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga, have been fairly quiet in the off season. One of the biggest names who had been linked to the Warriors recently was Raptors talismanic forward Pascal Siakam.

Siakam to Golden State Warriors likely off

Siakam who is coming off of a disappointing 2020-21 season, has been a key player for the Raptors for a while now. But given the season he had, there were rumblings of a potential departure.

But all of it have been put to bed. Recently the Athletic’s Sam Amick gave a major update on Siakam’s future with the Raptors franchise. In a recent article, Amick wrote that the 25-year-old is pretty satisfied with the Raptors. “It appears there is no uncomfortableness or pressure on the Siakam front.”

The NBA insider also clarified that the Raptors drafting Scottie Barnes recently raised some concerns. But Masai Ujiri made it pretty clear that the Raptors are unwilling to let go off the 27-year-old.

“Ujiri has recently made it clear to Siakam’s side that he’s not being shopped, and that there’s a clear basketball vision here for how these pieces — old and new — can work.”

This is certainly not the news Warriors’ fans would have wanted to hear. While Siakam and the Raptors are coming off a disappointing season, there is no doubting the quality the Cameroonian brings to the table. But with a wage bill of $106 million for the next three years, the Dubs might have dodged a bullet.

Siakam might be an impressive player in the regular but he has shown that he can falter in the playoffs. If the Warriors are willing to take up a big contract, they can target a bigger superstar. But time is pretty limited for Steph Curry and Co. Who do you think should the Warriors bring in for the 2020-21 season?
