Two Golfers Seal Their Spots on Team USA’s 12-Man Ryder Cup Squad

The 43rd Ryder Cup is just a month away. Team USA will compete against Team Europe at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin, from September 24 to 26. However, the Ryder Cup was initially scheduled for 2020 but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, top golfers from the USA and Europe will lock horns against each other for three days. Furthermore, both the teams have a captain who takes all the important decisions. This year, Steve Stricker is the captain of the team U.S., while Padraig Harrington is the skipper for team Europe.

Recently, Will Gray, a golf journalist, confirmed that Dustin Johnson has officially qualified for the upcoming Ryder Cup. DJ became the second player who has sealed his spot in the U.S. Ryder Cup team, as Collin Morikawa was the first player who had confirmed his spot in the team U.S.

Moreover, there are still around ten days remaining for the BMW Championship, which is the deadline for the qualification. And the top six players from the U.S. Ryder Cup points table will earn a spot in the United States team. However, since the two spots are already confirmed, the fight for the remaining four spots will continue until the final round of the BMW Championship.

However, even the remaining four spots for direct qualification are almost confirmed apart from the final spot. Since there is a big gap between Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and the 6th spot, it will be interesting to see who will take up the final 6th spot. Meanwhile, as of now, it is Xander Schauffele in 6th place. But Jordan Spieth, who is at 7th place, isn’t too far behind and can make a move with some good performance at Northern Trust and The BMW Championship.

Furthermore, Captain Steve Stricker will choose the remaining six players, who he thinks are in form and deserve a place in the team. Steve will select these six players after the final FedExCup playoff Tour Championship.
