Vasyl Lomachenko Gets Called Out by Former Foe: “He Know I’m on His A**’

After grabbing a sensational TKO win over Masayoshi Nakatani in June, Vasyl Lomachenko is now eyeing a rematch against Teofimo Lopez for his lost lightweight titles. However, he is still receiving call-outs from the featherweight division, which he had left long back.

While ‘Loma’ apparently has a rematch with Lopez in sight, Garry Russel Jr. has invited him for another rematch. The American featherweight star suffered the maiden and only loss of his pro career against Lomachenko in 2014. Subsequently, he has claimed 7 straight wins and is the WBC champion.

Hence, the Maryland native expressed interest in re-matching his Ukrainian rival, irrespective of how Lomachenko fares in his next appearances.

In a chat with Snowqueenla, Garry Russel Jr. said, “Honestly, I don’t care what [Vasyl] Lomachenko does unless he is trying to fight me. They are my true feelings about him. I don’t care what Lomachenko do. He can lose his next 10 fights. It doesn’t matter, before the conclusion of my career, that’s the fight that I want again.”

“Man, he know I am on his a**. He gotta give, he gotta give an early Christmas gift.”

With a 31-1 record, Russel Jr. is a top-tier threat to the other boxers at 126 lbs. He became the WBC champion in 2015 and has already secured five title defenses. However, a Lomachenko rematch may not happen anytime soon.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs Garry Russel Jr. Can it happen?

Lomachenko, who seems active in the lightweight division, has shown zero interest in moving down to the featherweight unit. He has several big matchups that are potentially on his radar in the lightweight chain. Moreover, as he has already proven his worth in the featherweight unit, a rematch against Russel Jr. might not intrigue him to step up.

Garry Russel Jr. has revealed that he isn’t hurrying to grab the match. Also, he will have his list of divisional contenders and mandataries to keep him busy at featherweight. That said, Russel Jr. wants to face Lomachenko, at least before he hangs his gloves. But, he may not get a window to schedule this fight unless he moves up.
