WWE star Elias prepares his own gravesite in cryptic video on Raw one week after killing off beloved character

WWE superstar Elias prepared his own gravesite this week on Monday Night Raw.

The 33-year-old wrestler has made the most of his musical talents over the past few years of his in-ring career as he used live concerts to deliver his promos, but that seems to be a thing of the past as he killed off the character last week.

After announcing that ‘Elias is dead’ and throwing his guitar into a fire, the artist took things further this week in another video aired during the red brand’s latest show.

The clip saw the star carrying his own gravestone near a forest, and placing it down before walking away.

He said in a voiceover: ‘I’ve had number one records, songs about every city, fans eating out of the palm of my hands.

‘Music didn’t fail me – it just wasn’t enough. WWE stood for Walk With Elias… but Elias is dead.’

It’s a big change for the former Drifter, who has had a musical character since his NXT debut in 2015.

For a long time, he was one of the most popular acts with fans in arenas across the country, instantly getting a reaction with his performances before the inevitable interruption.

WWE seemed to go all in with the character too, releasing two EP – Walk With Elias and Universal Truth – and letting him play live on Bourbon Street.

He even worked with John Cena and The Undertaker back on consecutive nights at WrestleMania 35 and Raw the next evening.

However, for a while now – particularly without live crowds – things have changed, and he was most recently seen in a midcard feud with Jaxson Ryker.

Now, it’ll be interesting to see whether Elias can connect with the fanbase with something drastically different to what brought him to the dance on screen.

*WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
