Country star Garth Brooks has officially canceled his remaining shows for 2021 due to the Covid-19 surge.

The beloved musician has assured fans that refunds will be offered on the approximately 350,000 tickets that were sold for stadium gigs in five cities.

The 59-year-old had said weeks ago that he would be reassessing the tour in light of the surge in coronavirus cases.

He told fans in a statement: ‘In July, I sincerely thought the pandemic was falling behind us. Now, watching this new wave, I realize we are still in the fight and I must do my part.’

The Ain’t Going Down singer appeared to leave open the possibility that he might schedule some new dates by the end of the year.

However, his reps say all the shows that were on the books will have refunds automatically processed through Ticketmaster to the original form of payment, rather than postponing the concerts indefinitely.

Tickets will be refunded for shows scheduled in Cincinnati; Charlotte, North Carolina; Baltimore; Foxborough, Massachusetts, and Nashville, Tennessee.

The Dance singer had previously performed stadium shows in five cities this year.

Brooks’ last tour date was Saturday night in Lincoln, Nebraska, at a show attended by nearly 90,000 fans, according to local press reports.

The country icon is one of the biggest selling entertainers in music and regularly performs in front of 60,000-70,000 people per stadium.
