The countdown is on to the Love Island final.

Fans have been glued to their TV screens for the past two months, laughing, crying and tweeting along with the shenanigans of the 2021 contestants.

So much has happened since the well-loved ITV2 drama hit our screens for a seventh season, but it won’t be long til a winning couple is crowned.

The final of Love Island 2021 is set to air on Monday August 23, when the summer series will end its usual run of 49 episodes.

The date of the finally hasn’t been announced officially, however, ITV accidentally let the date slip when announcing a competition, inviting two winners to a Love Island final screening on Monday August 23.

Expected to last for 90 minutes and hosted by Laura Whitmore, the final will begin at 9pm as all the drama of the last eight weeks boils down to one moment – finding out which couple will be crowned winners, and take home the £50,000 prize.

Three couples will reach the final, but only one pairing can be victorious.

As in previous series, the winners will face a final decision before leaving the villa and adjusting to lives of fame and followers – will they split the £50k? Or will someone steal?

Recent episodes saw the return of the babies challenge, where each couple had to care for a ‘newborn,’ doing everything from feeds to nappy changes.

Elsewhere, Liam Reardon dropped the ‘L bomb’ as he opened up about his feelings to Millie Court and viewers’ hearts melted across the country.

The couple have had their fair share of ups and downs in the villa (who hasn’t?) but can they make the final?

Love Island returns at 9pm on ITV2.
