‘I Don’t Think We’re Ever Going to See Jon Jones at Heavyweight’- Israel Adesanya Still Believes the Fight With Jon Jones Will Happen

Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones are two of the biggest superstars in the entire UFC roster. While Adesanya is the current middleweight champion, Jones has vacated his light-heavyweight throne as he is looking to capture the heavyweight gold next.

A fight between the two superstars was teased for a while, not so long ago. Fans anticipated the duo to clash inside the Octagon. To add to the smoke, both men went after each other with some constant taunts for a considerable period. However, Jones’ decision to move up to heavyweight, and Adesanya’s loss at light-heavyweight meant that fight didn’t transpire.

‘The Last Stylebender’ recently appeared at the relaunch of the MMA Hour show with Ariel Helwani. He discussed a potential clash against Jon ‘Bones’ Jones.

Israel Adesanya is still convinced he will fight Jon Jones

Adesanya believes Jones will actually never fight at heavyweight. The Kiwi star thinks the former 205 lbs champion is getting fat for no reason. He is also sanguine that he will eventually meet Jones at the center of the UFC Octagon.

I don’t think we’re ever going to see Jon Jones fight at heavyweight, F*ck, he’s been saying this since 2013. You either get it done or you don’t,” said Adesanya.

The middleweight champion also instanced his move up to light-heavyweight. Despite his loss, Adesanya earned props for his bold move. He believes it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and Jones is putting on weight for no reason.

However, he has not given up hopes of a potential showdown against the consensus greatest UFC fighter of all time. “I see it. I see it 100 percent, But that’s the thing. You’ve got to know when to hold them, you’ve got to know when to fold them, and the song is not over yet,” said Adesanya.

So stay tuned. We’ll fight one day. I don’t know where or how it’s going to happen. I just have an idea of what’s going to happen,” he added further.

A fight between him and Jones will be one of the biggest clashes in the history of the promotion. Fans can only hope that it actually materializes and two of the very bests in the world eventually take on each other.
