“It’s Crazy” – David Haye Opens Up on His Boxing Return Against Joe Fournier

Over the past year, the entire boxing fraternity has observed the trend of retired technicians coming back to the sport. Many legends re-entered the ring to fulfill their love for the game and thrill their fans. That said, one such former boxing sensation who will make an appearance after a while is the Brit stalwart, David Haye.

He will fight Joe Fournier on the Oscar De La Hoya vs Vitor Belfort fight card on September 11.

The announcement of this bout came in as a shocker for several fans and fighters around the globe, as they never expected to see David Haye returning to the game.

Recently, the British boxer, who interacted exclusively with iFL TV, opened up on why he took up a fight against Joe Fournier.

He said, “Everything gets put on the back burner. And to do that, I don’t do that for PPV money, you know, good PPV money. And that’s what he brought to the table.”

He continued, “Crazy more than I’ve got for Bellew one. That’s all I’m saying it’s crazy though some of what was gonna say that no, I’m not going to fight Joe for that. What would people, if I didn’t fight him for that.”

In his last pro-fight against Tony Bellew in 2018, David ‘Hayemaker’ Haye lost via a vicious T/KO. That said, fans expected him to rematch Bellew at some point in the future. But in his above statement, the 40-year-old clearly revealed why he didn’t fight Tony Bellew again.

Will the fans get to see the old David Haye against Joe Fournier?

David Haye was a boxing bigwig who impressed one and all with his skills and charisma. Now that he’s in for another sensational fight, the former cruiserweight champ will be keen to pull off a thriller in Los Angeles, California.

As his return is less than a month away, David Haye will put in the required amount of hard work to be near his best (old self) against Joe Fournier. It’ll be interesting to see how he presents himself in this encounter.
