JR Motorsports Recruits Josh Berry for 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series Season

NASCAR driver Josh Berry has been around in the stock car racing scene since 2014. However, he has never had a full-time season in either of the three series. Now, all that is about to change in 2022 when JR Motorsports recruits him for their Xfinity Series team.

In 2021, the 30-year-old has been fairly impressive for the outfit in his part-time appearances. In fact, he even snatched a win at Martinsville and posted three Top 5 finishes. As a result, JR Motorsports has seen fit to reward Berry with a full-time ride in the #8 car.

Apparently, Josh Berry was sharing driving duties with Sam Mayer in the #8 car. It is also worth noting that he is competing in 13 races until an of-age Mayer can take over for the rest of the season. In addition to that, he also drove for Jordan Anderson Racing at Mid-Ohio, Pocono and Atlanta. The 30-year-old also made his Cup Series debut earlier this year for Spire Motorsports.

Who is NASCAR driver Josh Berry?

JR Motorsports owner Dale Earnhardt Jr contacted Josh Berry back in 2010 in the Late Model Stock series. Earnhardt Jr. said, “This moment is something we’ve been working toward for a long time. Josh took full advantage of the opportunity he had this year in the No. 8 car. He went out, raced hard, and earned every bit of this. With all he’s accomplished on a limited schedule, I can’t wait to see what he can do in this series full time.”

Outside the stock car arena, Berry is known for his short track prowess in pavement Late Model competitions. In addition to that, he also won the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship. Unfortunately, he has had a hard time securing funding in order to continue racing at the highest level. Without a doubt, the driver will be surely relishing the chance to run on a full-time basis for the very first time.
