Kim Cattrall has sparked speculation among Sex And The City fans that she threw shade at former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker while posting a clip with her new four-legged screen partner.

The star – who played Samantha in the hit TV show – posted a video on Instagram of herself holding a dog named Pixel, who acted as her co-star in the Canadian dark comedy Sensitive Skin Kim starred in from 2014 to 2016.

As Pixel turns around to lick Kim’s face, she comments, ‘Mmmh.. nice breath’ as someone behind the camera laughs.

It was the caption to the clip, though, that made fans wonder whether she was taking a dig at someone else as Kim wrote: ‘When your co-star is a real dog.’

Among many heart emojis of support from her fans, some comments pointed out that her post might carry some other message.

‘I’m sensing a little shade here?’ wrote one fan with another wondering: ‘Is this shade?’ while a third was more certain of it, adding: ‘So shady I love it.’

‘The costar you deserve!’ added a further commenter, with others also saying how much Kim will be missed on the new rebooted series And Just Like That: ‘We will really miss you on new the Sex and the City. You made that show.’

Kim, who will not reprise her role in the upcoming Sex And The City revival programme, has been very vocal on social media about her feud with Parker, who played Carrie Bradshaw.

Kim explained why she would not be returning to the show saying in 2019: ‘It’s a “no” from me. You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun.’

Meanwhile, Parker has denied there was ever tension between the two, saying she had ‘never uttered an unkind, unsupportive, unfriendly word’.

The previous year, before a return to the show was even on the cards, their frosty relationship played out on social media after the death of Kim’s brother Chris.

SJP sent shared her condolences online, which Kim did not find sincere, prompting her to post to her own Instagram account about her former co-star.

‘I don’t need your love and support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker,’ she wrote, adding: ‘My mom asked me today, “when will that Sarah Jessica Parker . . . leave you alone?’

‘Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.’

Explaining how Samantha’s absence will be addressed in the upcoming series, HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys said that the show is ‘not trying to re-do Sex and the City’ and added: ‘They’re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s. It is very much a story about women in their 50s, and they are dealing with things that people deal with in their 50s.’

‘Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave. Friendships fade, and new friendships start.’
