Even though she holds dual citizenship with the USA and Japan, her mind has always been connected to Japan. The tennis champion has previously collaborated with Nike and Adeam and starred in Louis Vuitton and TAG Heuer Ads.

Now, as she wants to promote her Japanese culture, Osaka feels this platform can help people get inspired by her story and also promote her heritage.

The reigning Australian Open champion, Osaka, starred in the campaign for the collaboration. She shared her story about how the Osaka sisters used to spend “hours and hours on end” sketching designs.

The Japanese player shared the reason behind this collaboration while having a press conference. She said, “I really loved wearing kimonos when I was a kid. So, to be able to do it in denim felt really different and a bit unexpected. The sustainability aspect was super important to me. And I love that every piece in the collection has been recycled or repurposed from old stock.” (h/t People)

The four-time grand slam winner also expressed her desire to open her own brand one day with her sister. The recently released collaboration campaign and video focused on the “journey of becoming”. It featured an inspiring lineup of celebrities, from Jaden Smith to Naomi Osaka herself.
