Who is Richard Bacon and how long will he present GMB for?

Richard Bacon has delighted fans by returning to Good Morning Britain as a guest presenter.

The 45-year-old broadcaster is the latest host to step in following Piers Morgan’s departure from the ITV programme earlier this year and joined Charlotte Hawkins on today’s show.

Thrilled to be back at the helm, Richard enthused: ‘My first love is news and current affairs and to actually come back and talk about things that matter… to be here on a day like this is a fascinating thing.’

But who is Richard Bacon and how long will he be on Good Morning Britain for? We’ve got everything you need to know about the broadcaster right here.

Who is Richard Bacon?

Richard Bacon is a presenter whose major television break was on the children’s show Blue Peter, which he joined in 1997.

He was famously sacked from the programme one year later for cocaine use.

During the course of his career, Richard has worked as a reporter or presenter on numerous television shows, including The Big Breakfast, and on ITV’s Good Morning Britain as a stand-in host.

He’s also featured on radio stations including Capital FM, Xfm London and BBC Radio Five Live.

In 2016, Richard became the presenter of The National Geographic Channel’s reboot of its documentary/panel discussion TV series Explorer.

Two years later, Richard was placed in an induced coma after becoming ill with pneumonia.

Doctors fought to save his life and luckily the star pulled through after two weeks of treatment. He walked out of University Hospital Lewisham with the help of a walking frame.

Richard resides in Los Angeles with his wife Rebecca McFarlane, who he married in 2008.

The couple shares two children.

How long will Richard Bacon present GMB?

Richard arrived on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, August 18 where he co-presented the ITV show with Charlotte Hawkins

He will continue to present on the programme for four days until Monday 23rd August.

He will host alongside Kate Garraway for Thursday and Friday’s episodes and finally Ranvir Singh on the Monday.
