Carlos Sainz Spills the Beans on How Ferrari Turned Around After a Disappointing Start

Ever since the start of this season, Scuderia Ferrari have been amid a strenuous battle against McLaren for P3 in the constructor’s standings. And of course, their success kicked off at the Monaco Grand Prix, where home hero, Charles Leclerc secured the first pole position in over 2 years.

However, just a couple of race weekends later, at Le Castellet, Ferrari started showing glimpses of the 2020 struggles. The Maranello outfit looked like an entirely different outfit, as massive tire struggles and pace deficit caused the team to leave France empty-handed for the first time in 2021.

But, since then, Ferrari’s resurgence has been exemplary, with both their drivers gaining a podium each out of the succeeding 4 races.

It was unquestionably an eventful turnaround from Ferrari since the Le Castellet heartbreak. But, how did they manage to pull themselves up in such a short period of time?

Well, Carlos Sainz revealed the truth behind Ferrari’s revival.

As reported by Motorsport Total, Sainz revealed that Ferrari had started working on the car right after the race in France.

“There was a lot of emphasis and emphasis on this issue because the problem was so dramatic in Paul Ricard,” he said. “We were all so surprised that we said, ‘Okay, we have to change that and act as aggressively and quickly as possible’. It started immediately after the race.”

Since the French GP, Ferrari have gained a total of 69 points, which has played a hefty role in marginally ousting McLaren before heading into the summer break.

Ferrari headed straight to Maranello after Paul Ricard: Sainz

The Spaniard, who secured his second podium of the season in Hungary, opened up that the entire Ferrari crew rushed to Maranello right after the horrendous outing in France. He further reckoned he worked in the simulator for 2 to 3 days to figure out what went wrong.

“The minute that happened, we all flew back to Maranello. Met for a few meetings, did a few analyzes. And worked intensively for two or almost three days in the simulator, with simulations to understand and find out our car what caused this big problem,” he said.

Overall, Ferrari are looking much comfortable with the recent podium at Hungaroring. Hence, despite Lando Norris’ heroics at McLaren, there is a substantial possibility that Ferrari can oust the British outfit quite efficiently.
