“Conor McGregor Keeps Talking”- Kamaru Usman Opens Up on Recent Comments Made on Twitter

Kamaru Usman recently held an Instagram live answering questions from fans. The UFC welterweight champion was asked about many things including recent claims from Conor McGregor that he will return to welterweight and spark Usman to capture the title. The duo had a brief back-and-forth.

“Tremendous! I love this record! I fight for the 170lb title I will spark him too. That would be fastest ko in ufc title fight (13 seconds) Most knockdowns in ufc title fight (5) And then another KO in a ufc title fight. 3 title fights. 3 ko’s. 3 new records. It’s right there!,” wrote McGregor.

Usman was asked of his take on McGregor’s recent claims. “McGregor keeps talking because this is how he stays relevant. You know, he says something to someone who is at the top. And once we respond, it keeps them once we respond. It keeps him relevant,” said ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

“It’s a smart thing to do. Like me responding to him. What did that do? They created a frenzy. Everyone’s posting and reposting it. You know, that’s what he does. And we all know what he does. But it is what it is. You know, we’ll leave it at that,” he added acknowledging the tremendous promoter that the Irishman is.

Kamaru Usman vs Conor McGregor: is that a possibility?

McGregor has won only 1 out of his last 4 fights in the UFC. So, it’s highly unlikely he will be granted a title shot, that too welterweight, once he is fit and raring to go. But with ‘The Notorious’, nothing is off the cards.

It will be a great move for Usman as well as fighting McGregor will no doubt generate the highest pay-day of his career. However, he has to take care of Colby Covington first in their rematch at UFC 268 in November. Whether the stars align for a potential showdown against McGregor, remains to be seen.
