Declan Rice challenges Mason Mount to brutal cage match – but WWE star has another idea
A future world champ? (Picture: John Sibley – Pool/Getty Images)
Declan Rice has challenged Mason Mount to a WWE cage match – but NXT UK’s Trent Seven has another proposition.
The West Ham man has been repeatedly linked to a move away from the Hammers, but fans might be clamouring for him to swap the pitch for the squared circle now he’s called out the Chelsea star for a brutal clash over the wrestling world’s richest prize.
Appearing in a hilarious first-look exclusive clip from tonight’s episode of BT Sport’s The Run In previewing this weekend’s SummerSlam event, Rice posed with the WWE Championship over his shoulder and said: ‘Mase, when this belt’s on the line, me and you ain’t friends mate.
‘Cage match, I’m taking you up top and I’m putting you through. Simple as that, mate. This is mine. One champ, and one champ only!’
Maybe Mount can get some tips from Mick Foley, who certainly knows a thing or two about being slammed through a cage as he’s still feeling the effects of his time inside Hell In A Cell against The Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998.
Although football and wrestling fans might both like to see the two England internationals face off in a new environment, NXT UK star Seven would rather see them team up against him and his tag partner Tyler Bate.
He teased: ‘I tell you something, we’re just going to announce it right now. Moustache Mountain versus Mount Rice. Moustache Mount Rice, I don’t know?
‘You can think of a name because you’ll need it, because I think it needs to go down. You name your time and your place, let’s do it!
‘Walking around with gold over his shoulder? Pft, you haven’t even been in the ring with The Don Trent Seven, have ya?’

Fighting talk from Seven – maybe he hasn’t seen the footage of Mount and Rice practicing their WWE moves in a swimming pool during Euro 2020, but either way he seems confident.
‘Cross promotional dream match, that’s what it is,’ he added. ‘Premier League versus WWE!’
Stranger things have happened!
