James Bond producers rule out TV series after MGM takeover: ‘We make films for the cinema’

James Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have, in no uncertain terms, completely shut down any rumours that a James Bond TV series is happening.
After Amazon took over MGM in a deal worth about $8.4billion (£6billion), fans were worried for the future of Bond, with some questioning if an Amazon series might be on the cards.
However, Barbara insisted: ‘We make films. We make films for the cinema. That’s what we do.’
Michael added to Total Film (via GamesRadar): ‘We’ve resisted that call for 60 years.’
Fair point.
So what does the future of Bond hold? Other than the potential of Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page or maybe Tom Hardy suiting up and stepping into 007’s shoes after No Time To Die?
Basically, they’re not sure either.

‘It’s tough to think about the future until this film has its moment,’ Barbara said.
‘I think we just really want to celebrate this and celebrate Daniel, and then when the dust settles, then look at the landscape and figure out what the future is. Although I think one thing we’ve certainly learned in the last 18 months is you never know what the future is. So we have to sit down and think about it.’
While fans are in no hurry to see Daniel finally step down after his last outing as Bond, they are completely hyped to see No Time To Die, which has been delayed countless times and overcome a frankly unreasonable amount of obstacles.
And, with Daniel’s departure, will be a new face in the franchise to carry on the Bond legacy.
Currently, Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean is the front-runner, with odds of 1-2, according to Coral.

Tom Hardy is currently at 5-2, Luke Evans is at 3-1, James Norton’s odds are 4-1, and Sam Heughan’s are 9-2.
As for who will take the baton next, only time will tell…
No Time To Die is set for release on on September 30 in the UK.
