Sean Lock fans call for comic’s book The Tiger Who Came For A Pint to be published after death
Sean Lock fans have come up with the perfect way to remember the late comic and raise some money for a good cause – publishing his book The Tiger Who Came For A Pint.
Lock died at the age of 58 from cancer, with tributes pouring in.
As well as his stand-up and sitcom, he was well known for his appearances on 8 Out Of 10 Cats and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, with the star often delighting viewers with his parody books.
One of the most memorable, The Tiger Who Came For A Pint, was described by Lock as containing two of his favourite things – tigers and alcohol.
The tiger was described as wanting a ‘pint that packs a punch like Stella or Kronenbourg.’
‘The tiger was thirsty and needed something to wash down the zookeeper he’d just eaten,’ Lock continued.
‘He liked the atmosphere of Wetherspoons. Plus he was barred from the King’s Head for mauling the darts team.’
After Lock lamented that the tiger had spent all his money, he added that he went on to drink from all the kegs and even ‘the rum they were saving for Caribbean night.’
Going on to describe the tiger as needing a cab home, Lock read: ‘It took a while to get one as the first two drivers they sent said, “Are you mental?”

‘Finally, Pavel from Station Cars greeted him. The journey went smoothly and, after a lot of questions, the tiger said, “Look, for the last time, it’s not a onesie!”
‘Wetherspoons deputy manager George never saw the tiger or Pavel, the Station Cars driver, ever again. The end.’
Genuinely a masterpiece.
Sharing the clip on Twitter, one fan said: ‘In honour of Sean Lock, I think we need to make ‘The Tiger Who came For A Pint’ a reality.’
‘Request to get ‘The Tiger Who Came For A Pint’ properly published and all the money to go to wherever the Lock family want. #SeanLock,’ another added.
‘Who thinks @Channel4 should publish this as an actual book to raise funds for @SU2CUK in memory of #SeanLock?’ one more said.

Lock’s death was announce this week, with his management company Off The Kerb Productions saying: ‘It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Sean Lock.
‘He died at home from cancer, surrounded by his family.
‘Sean was one of Britain’s finest comedians, his boundless creativity, lightning wit and the absurdist brilliance of his work, marked him out as a unique voice in British comedy.

‘Sean was also a cherished husband and father to three children.
‘Sean will be sorely missed by all that knew him. We kindly request that the privacy of his family and children is respected at this difficult time.’
