Tesco Clubcard customers warned thousands of vouchers could expire in less than two weeks

TESCO Clubcard customers have less than two weeks to spend thousands of vouchers before the coupons expire.

The loyalty scheme vouchers have to be used before the end of the month.

Tesco Clubcard vouchers are handed out in February, May, August and November and are valid for two years.

You must have collected at least 150 Clubcard points before the cut off date in order to receive vouchers – you can double check the deadline online.

Customers can also buy Faster Vouchers using their Clubcard points at any time of year, and these are valid for 21 months.

The coupons that will expire at the end of this month were allocated in February 2019.

They were originally due to end in February this year but the deadline was extended until August 31 due to Covid.

You can redeem them in-store and online – but you won’t be able to claim your vouchers beyond the end of this month.

The supermarket gave shoppers more time to spend their vouchers during the pandemic.

The last batch of vouchers that have been granted an extension were due to expire in May this year.

Customers now have until November to spend these coupons.

Many consumers prefer to spend loyalty card points on days out and activities, such as bowling or the cinema, rather than redeeming them in store.

But these options were unavailable during coronavirus lockdowns.

You can see your available vouchers, and a summary of all the Clubcard points you’ve earned, in your online account or on the Clubcard app.

Even if you don’t think you have any vouchers to spend, you could be owed hundreds of pounds without knowing it.

Check your Tesco account online to see if you have any forgotten money-off codes that need to be used before the end of the month.

Last year, the supermarket said the amount of these vouchers that go unused was equivalent to £17million.

What can you spend your vouchers on before the expiry date?

Vouchers can be used to pay for food, clothes and fuel at Tesco.

They can also be redeemed online by entering the code when you check out.

However, many shoppers choose to spend their coupons with Tesco’s retail partners to get better value for money.

At the moment, Tesco is offering Clubcard members deals with Disney Plus, English Heritage and the RAC.

It has also partnered with pub and restaurant chains such as Hungry Horse.

For this reward, if you had 50p in Tesco Clubcard vouchers you can use it to exchange for £1.50 at Hungry Horse pubs.

How to extend your points

MoneySavingExpert has previously revealed a trick to extend points that are about to expire.

You can add another two years on to the deadline by making a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard site with the voucher or vouchers you have.

The remaining balance of the voucher would then be credited back to your Clubcard account as points, reissued with newer expiry dates.

This means that if you spend 50p on a £10 voucher, you’ll get £9.50 as new vouchers.

You will have to do this for each voucher in your account so it might not be worth it for smaller coupons like those at £1, as you won’t get as much money back.

Tesco shoppers with a Clubcard can save up to 50% for the same goods, a Sun Money investigation found.

A Tesco shopper has revealed how they managed to stock their entire supermarket trolley with yellow sticker bargains.

The supermarket is also trialling a till-free shop, where customers can just walk out with their shopping.
