Who has left Love Island early or been kicked out of the ITV show?

The Love Island final is just days away and emotions have been running high amid Faye Winter’s blow-ups with fellow Islanders.
Meanwhile Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish are on the rocks with the villa favourite shown removing her microphone pack and storming out.
While it’s not clear yet if Liberty will leave early, others have before her – with some being booted out by producers, too.
Read on to discover previous Love Island stars who left the villa and why they walked or were removed.
Sherif Lanre (2019)

Sherif Lanre’s removal from the show, just nine days in, came as a shock to viewers.
The 20-year-old chef from London reportedly reached a mutual agreement with ITV bosses, who said: ‘After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.’
It was later revealed he had accidentally kicked Molly-Mae Hague in the groin while play fighting and called it a ‘c**t punt.’
The former Islander said in the statement: ‘In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa. I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.
‘I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.’
Niall Aslam (2018)

One of the original contestants from 2018, Niall quit after just seven days, citing ‘personal reasons’.
At the time, he took to social media to reveal that he had Asperger Syndrome, saying his condition had never previously been shared with anybody other than his close family.
However, in 2020, he revealed he actually left the villa on account of stress-induced psychosis and spent two weeks in a psychiatric hospital after the show.
In an Instagram video, Niall said: ‘I came out and talked about my Asperger’s and I was diagnosed at 10 years old, and that was basically the reason I left Love Island.
‘But what actually happened to me, I ended up watching Love Island in a psychiatric hospital in London, the Nightingale Hospital in London to be exact.
‘What I later found out is that I had something called stress-induced psychosis… I did not know what that was. Essentially what it is, you get so overwhelmed that you lose touch with reality.’
Samira Mighty (2018)

West End performer Samira Mighty was another of the original line-up in 2018, after her love interest Frankie Foster was dumped from the island.
Samira decided to follow him back to the real world, confessing: ‘I’ve not had any connection in here with anyone and I had a little taste of that with Frankie and it’s gone abruptly and I think I’d always be thinking “what if”.’
Malia Arkian (2016)

The very first Love Island contestant to have been removed from the villa, Malia Arkian was told to leave for breaking the rules of the show.
She became involved in a fight with Kady McDermott, which turned physical and led to her leaving the series.
Rykard Jenkins (2016)

Rykard Jenkins quit the series after co-star Rachel Fenton also quit, deciding to make a go of their budding romance instead of staying on the show.
The pair stayed together for 18 months before splitting up.
Zara Holland (2016)

Former Miss Great Britain Zara Holland was surrounded by controversy in 2016, after an intimate moment with Alex Bowen in the villa led to her being stripped of her title.
She later left the villa under different circumstances, however, after her mother was taken ill.
Sophie Gradon (2016)

Sophie Gradon formed one half of the first – and only – same-sex couple on the series to date when she coupled up with Katie Salmon – but decided to leave the series just two days after making that decision.
She tragically died in June 2018 aged just 32, with an inquest ruling that she died by suicide.
Love Island continues daily, at 9pm, on ITV2.
