Bobby Lashley wants WWE legends to keep returning so he can ‘put them back into retirement’

WWE Champion Bobby Lashley has issued a defiant warning for the likes of Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

The All Mighty – who is defending his treasured title against Hall of Famer Goldberg tomorrow night at SummerSlam – has insisted he welcomes part-time legends making their comebacks because it gives him a chance to ‘retire them’ for a second time.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘People have been talking since the beginning of my career about the Brock match-up and the Goldberg match-up. So, I welcome anything.

‘I welcome any of these guys that wanna come out of retirement, because what I like is for them to come out of retirement so I can put them back into retirement.’

Lashley’s confidence shines through on the phone days before he gets in the ring with the former world champion, and he admits he’s found himself working out harder then ever in preparation for their big match.

‘I feel like a million bucks, man – maybe a billion! It’s crazy how good I feel. I just trained this morning and it was one of those things where I got so much in the zone that I did way more than I should have,’ he laughed.

‘I just felt so good and I didn’t wanna stop. Right now, I’m on top of the world, man. I feel like a billion bucks, so I’m ready.’

Although Bobby was previously very vocal about wanting a match against Brock Lesnar – especially with comparisons between the two and their respective amateur wrestling backgrounds – he has now reached a point where he’s more focused on the fresh talent right under his nose.

‘I’m at that case of, if it happens, it happens,’ he admitted. ‘Our roster is so jam-packed right now on Raw, and there are so people on it that have that “it factor”, that potential to become world champion.

‘I look at some of the matchups that I have moving forward and it excites me. We have so many different guys there. Drew’s still chomping at the bit, ripping people apart trying to get back to where he was before. Then you have Sheamus, Sheamus is one of the angriest, toughest guys on the roster.

‘You have Damian Priest that’s just been on fire lately, you have Riddle that’s been on fire lately. You have Randy Orton that is the epitome of a world champion. You have AJ Styles – phenomenal, as his name says. You have Omos.’

Lashley also pointed to stars who he thinks haven’t come close to realising their huge main event-level potential yet, namedropping the likes of Ricochet, Mustafa Ali, Elias and his former Hurt Business teammates.

‘You have some of the guys that haven’t even really touched what their potential is but then have the potential to become the world champion in the Ricochets, the Riddles, the Alis, and Elias and Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander,’ he beamed.

‘There’s so many guys on our roster and it makes me excited, some of the matches we can have moving forward!’

That said, Bobby will always be open to any and every challenger put in his way, and he’s happy to push legends aside before moving onto the next hungry star on the red brand.

‘If any of those guys wanna come, they can get it and they can step away so I can give opportunities to some of our guys that are waiting and hustling to have their opportunity too,’ he said.’

‘I love it. There’s so many weeks in this year that I can have a different challenger every week in that case. So I don’t care, give me everything!’
