Come Dine With Me: Who did Dave Lamb play in EastEnders and what else has he been in?

We know Dave Lamb from Come Dine With Me, but what else has he been in? (Picture: Channel 4)

Come Dine With Me’s narrator Dave Lamb is known for his sarcastic commentary.

But before he was known as the voice of Channel 4’s hit show – which sees contestants try to score a perfect 40 from strangers for their home-cooked meals – Dave was acting and performing elsewhere.

His career has seen him in top comedy TV shows, perform other high-profile voiceover gigs – and he once even had a (not exactly massive, to be fair) role in BBC soap EastEnders.

So, who was Dave in EastEnders, and what else has he starred in?

Who was Dave Lamb in EastEnders?

Pre-finding fame on Come Dine With Me, 52-year-old Dave made a brief appearance on EastEnders.

He appeared in two episodes, airing on June 1 and June 3, all the way back in 2004.

His character, unfortunately, doesn’t appear to have had a name. But we do know that he played a bouncer.

Interestingly, he has no relation to EastEnders star Larry Lamb, who played villain Archie Mitchell from 1990 to 2009.

What else has Dave Lamb been in?

Born in 1969, Dave’s been active in the entertainment business since 1997.

He’s been on TV, in film, on stage and, perhaps unsurprisingly, has also worked as a radio performer.

Undeniably, he’s had the most public-facing success as a voiceover artist – narrating Come Dine With Me UK, as well as the Ireland and South Africa versions of the show.

A job he’s continued to do since the UK show began in 2005.

He also narrated cartoon series 2DTV and the 2015 reboot of Danger Mouse.

But his first known TV role was Buster, a homeless person, in the BBC Two sitcom How Do You Want Me? in 1998.

Dave’s comedy troupe, The Cheese Shop, also had three series’ of their comedy show, The Butter Factory on BBC Radio Four between 1997 and 1999.

From there, he became known for appearing in Goodness Gracious Me, the British-Indian sketch comedy show – another BBC Two hit.

A string of small TV appearances followed, before landing a few bigger parts.

In 2007, Dave played Des in BBC’s The Life And Times Of Vivienne Vyle. In 2008, he starred in Moving Wallpaper as a TV writer called Carl Morris.

In 2009, he starred in an episode of Miranda, and in 2011 popped up in Rock & Chips (the Only Fools And Horses prequel show). In 2014, he appeared in the reunion special of Goodness Gracious Me.

And, in addition to his current voiceover work, he also presents the kids’ game show Horrible Histories: Gory Games on CBBC.
