FedExCup Playoffs: Jordan Spieth Has Bittersweet Memories at The Northern Trust

Jordan Spieth is one of the best players on the PGA Tour. Moreover, along with his playing abilities, he is also a fan-favorite golfer. Spieth has 12 PGA Tour wins with three major championship titles in his career so far. He turned pro in 2012 and instantly caught the attention of all the golf fans.

Even though Jordan Spieth has won plenty of events, he hasn’t been a FedExCup champion yet in his career so far. And with the 2021 FedExCup playoffs already underway with The Northern Trust let us have a look at Jordan Spieth’s record at this tournament.

Jordan Spieth has had a bittersweet experience at The Northern Trust. He was very close to winning the event a couple of times, but unfortunately, couldn’t. Jordan played this event for the first time in 2014 when the event was called Barclays and remained T22 for the event. Furthermore, in 2015, he sadly couldn’t make it to the weekend as he missed the cut.

However, 2016 was a decent event for Jordan Spieth as he made his first top-10 finish in Northern Trust. Meanwhile, in 2017, he went a step ahead and was tied for the lead with Dustin Johnson after 72 holes. But unfortunately, Spieth lost his way in the playoff after 4-holes and finished in second place.

In 2018, he had a decent finish as he remained T25 for the event. However, Jordan was never in contention and just made his way to the BMW Championship. Meanwhile, in 2019, at Liberty National Golf Course, Spieth looked in tremendous form and had a good chance of winning. But sadly, it was Patrick Reed who took the trophy away from him. Furthermore, the 2020 Northern Trust was a disaster for him, as he missed the cut by a huge margin.

So, this is how he has been blowing hot and cold at this particular event. But hopefully, Jordan, who is currently in second place in FedExCup rankings, would like to win or at least finish strong before going into the BMW Championship.
