Love Island has set the scene for some fireworks today as Islanders’ parents entered the villa – just as Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish reportedly quit the show.

In scenes that will air on Sunday, ahead of Monday’s series finale, the remaining couples will be meeting their partner’s parents in person, according to The Sun.

A traditional episode that usually airs in the last week of the series, this year the couples had expected to only be talking with family via Zoom but double-jabbed parents have been able to make the trip in person.

Liberty’s mum Jo revealed yesterday on Instagram that she was on her way, as scenes of her and Jake breaking off their seven-week romance aired.

‘Seeing Lib so upset last night has broken my heart,’ Jo wrote. ‘I’m feeling her pain.

‘She’s about to get the biggest cuddle of her life! I’m on my way.’

With Liberty and Jake’s shock exit from the villa expected to play out on Friday, that leaves Millie Court and Liam Reardon, Faye Winter and Teddy Soares, Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank and Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran left to compete for the £50,000 prize.

A source told The Sun: ‘It’s always the most tense day of the series and Millie and Teddy’s parents will have seen a lot on TV that their kids don’t know about.

‘In fact, all of the friends and family will have outsider gossip to tell the cast, so a lot of them should be very nervous – Jake included.’

They added that parents would have been flown out only if fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and ‘happy to travel’, and while it will be a ‘socially-distanced’ meeting, fireworks are promised.

Let’s not forget, Chloe’s parents may have something to say to Toby for his initial dumping of Chloe before he decided (two girls later) he’d made a mistake.

Meanwhile, Liam devastated Millie with his behaviour in Casa Amor, which only came out after bombshell Lillie Haynes decided to air her disappointment over his decision to stick with Millie at their fateful recoupling.

Lastly, Faye attracted backlash for her treatment of Teddy when she believed he’d had his head turned in Casa Amor.

On Thursday night, heart-breaking scenes aired as Liberty initiated a break-up with Jake after confiding in Faye that she didn’t feel things were right between the pair anymore.

And in scenes set to air tonight, Jake and Liberty will go on their dream yacht date together, despite the break-up, before gathering the Islanders around the fire pit for some news.

Despite viewers theorising that they could have rekindled their romance, sources report that the pair instead decide to leave the competition.

An insider told the MailOnline: ‘It was a really tough decision for the couple to make, but it felt like the right thing to do.

‘They’d given it their all on camera and wanted to let their friends in other couples have a chance at winning.’

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV 2.
