“I’m Militant in Everything I Do”: George Kambosos Jr. Pens Strong Message to “Fake Champions”

George Kambosos Jr., 19-0, is yet to have his attempt at the lightweight world titles against Teofimo Lopez as the champion is reportedly recovering from Covid-19. Although it’s been over two months since both the official fight dates have been scrapped, a new date is still not on board.

Furthermore, as Teofimo Lopez has confirmed nothing from his end, the fight is still up in the air. Hence, the Australian boxer Kambosos Jr. might have had enough of the scene. Despite the long recess, he has constantly claimed that he will vanquish Lopez Jr. whenever they meet in the ring. He also seems to have been training throughout the time.

Meanwhile, things broke loose when ‘Ferocious’ unveiled a brutal attack on all the champions at 135. He took to social media and lashed out, possibly for not getting a fight date.

He wrote, “They don’t respect the game like I respect the game! I’m a different breed. Cut from a different cloth. I’m militant in everything I do. F*** these fake champions, f*** these frauds making a mockery of the sport. I’m getting whats owed to me and no one is getting in my way!!”

The unified champion, Teofimo Lopez Jr., is fresh from a win over Vasyl Lomachenko. However, he is 3 wins short of Kambosos Jr. on the papers and an inch and a half shorter. Hence, the Australian is the taller and more experienced of the two.

Nevertheless, ‘Take Over’ wouldn’t be an easy opponent to deal with and George Kambosos Jr. might have to push his limits. However, Teofimo Lopez would also have to remain alert while battling the Australian elite.

George Kambosos Jr. could have lashed out at several other champions too. The lightweight roster reflects many A-listers like Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis, who are yet to collide in unification bouts. However, as he has a fight set with Lopez, all signs point to him being the target.

On looking back to the initial plans, Triller had set Lopez vs Kambosos Jr. as the main event with Evander Holyfield’s return in the undercard. The massive plans had thrilled the entire combat community. However, it’s no longer relevant and a new fight card needs to be constructed.

Lopez will reportedly defend all of his titles and the undefeated tag. Hence, the winner of the show can expect to be the next big thing of the vicious 135 lbs roster. This makes it a must-win situation for both contenders.

Who do you think will win the potential fight? Teofimo Lopez or George Kambosos Jr.?
