Why Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz Will be the Perfect Partners to Desert With – Williams F1 Drivers Explain

The ‘Fan meet Driver’ forum gives the audience some of the best insights into the drivers’ lives. The casual set-up allows the fans to ask their favorite drivers random questions, the answers to which are always fascinating. F1 compiled the best of these sessions, one of which included Williams duo, Nicholas Latifi and George Russell.

A fan asked the drivers, “If you were to get stranded on a desert island, which other driver would you want with you?”

The answers were interesting. While Latifi opted for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, Russell picked Daniel Ricciardo.

When the drivers discussed their choices, Latifi took the practical route – looking over the fishing skills of those on the grid. “I think he will be good for a bit of survival benefit,” affirmed the Canadian.

Russel elucidated his choice, saying, “I think Danny Ric’s a bit out there, I reckon he’ll be quite good at survival stuff.”

Back in 2017, F1 had asked the grid the same question, and “cool, fun guy,” Daniel Ricciardo was a popular choice back then as well.

The Williams teammates

Nicholas Latifi and George Russell spent some with each other during their summer break in Mykonos. The Grove squad upheld the Williams team spirit while on vacation, as Latifi posted a picture of the two with their respective girlfriends. The Canadian captioned the post, “We just couldn’t get away from each other!”

Fresh off a heartening showcase of team spirit in Hungary, the Williams duo has only reinforced their bond. George Russell’s team radio during restart and the elaborate celebrations after, the teammates will return stronger than ever. Having finally brought home points for Williams, we hope to see Latifi and Russell continue on the same trajectory.

“If you need to compromise my race to keep Nicky in the points, do it.”

While Latifi finished the Hungarian GP a place above Russell, the Brit is yet to be out-qualified by his teammate. However, in a sport where your biggest competition is your teammate, it’s good to see that the two haven’t let the numbers come in the way of friendship.
