Love Island fans had a mixed reaction as Liam Reardon and Millie Court were announced as the winners of this year’s series on Monday night.
The Welsh bricklayer, 22, and fashion buyer’s administrator, 24, were unveiled as the champions by host Laura Whitmore, with Millie choosing to share the £50,000 prize with Liam.
While the pair, who are now an official couple, were happy they won, not all viewers at home were as impressed – especially after the Lillie Haynes drama from Casa Amor just a few weeks ago.
Taking to Twitter to express their reaction, one person wrote: ‘I love Millie but Liam is soo boring. She even said it her self at the start of their relationship [sic].’
Showing preference for another couple, another tweeted: ‘I love Liam and Millie but Toby and Chloe had personality #LoveIsland.’
While one audience member exclaimed: ‘Can’t watch the Love Island final because I’m not in UK but I just want to say, I’m disappointed and upset at the results. If you voted for Millie and Liam AND Faye and Teddy – you really need to have a strong word with yourself.’
Questioning the result, a follower wrote: ‘Love island is rigged we knew they wanted millie & liam to win #loveisland.’
‘Lol I nearly got an Uber back from the cinema to watch the last half of Love Island. Thank God I didn’t cos I would not have been able to sleep peacefully if I paid money to watch Liam and Millie win,’ declared another Love Island fan.
While someone else posted: ‘I know everyone loves Millie but I don’t understand how they’ve won when Liam was this seasons second biggest villain after Jake.’
However, not all viewers were as unimpressed with the result, with others taking to the social media site to congratulate the pair.
A Twitter user said: ‘Liam is a proper man and Millie an elegant lady. They are so in love!’
‘CONGRATS MILLIE AND LIAM, sending much love to them both and can’t wait to see the amazing stuff they achieve outside the villa!!!’, another agreed.
‘So happy Liam and Millie won love them,’ a viewer shared.

One added: ‘Congratulations Millie And Liam the best couple won.’
Just before the pair were announced as the winners of the show, Liam took the opportunity to ask Millie to officially be his girlfriend.
When asked by show host Laura where their relationship was headed, he said: ‘It’s been on my mind for a while, so…’
Liam – who claimed he hadn’t used a pen for six years as he wrote his declaration of love earlier in the episode – and Millie’s fellow islanders broke out into cheers as she said ‘yes’.

The pair placed first ahead of runners-up Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran, as well as Faye Winter and Teddy Soares who finished in third place, and Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank who finished fourth.
Love Island is available on stream on the ITVHub.
